18TH/19TH C. JEWELED CROWN18th18TH/19TH C. JEWELED CROWN18th - 19th C. jeweled crown, silver repoussé with gold vermeil, Spanish Colonial, 11.5" x 28.5". Crowns of this type were worn by life-size painted wooden icons, such as a Madonna figure, in church settings. Dressing icons in luxurious clothing and jewels signified the spiritual wealth of the community.
